Well, this week has been crazy on Monday.
On Monday afternoon, Chris, Kenzie, and Seth started tearing things apart. Well, I've also been working on the Popcorn ceiling since early this month, and on Monday, I helped Kenzie and Seth bring in big, long pieces of wood; yesterday, I was just tearing down the popcorn ceiling, and it's a mess. Yesterday, they tore the countertop off and took the cabinets off. They've torn the terrible island off, and there are lots of loose, hot wires around. Who knows what they're going to work on today? Hopefully, my nerves won't get the best of me today like they did yesterday. I've been taking little breaks. Kenzie's been looking for French swing doors and double ovens on the Facebook marketplace.
House Remodeling Adventure: From Popcorn Ceilings to French Swing Doors
This month has been a whirlwind of activity as we dive headfirst into remodeling our home. On Monday afternoon, Chris, Kenzie, and Seth started tearing things apart, and it's been non-stop action since then.
Popcorn Ceiling Woes
I've been tackling the popcorn ceiling since early this month. It's a messy job, but seeing the progress is incredibly satisfying. Yesterday, I spent the entire day scraping away at it, and let me tell you, the dust and debris are everywhere. It's a bit overwhelming, but I'm taking it one step at a time.
Demolition Day
Monday was a big day for demolition. I helped Kenzie and Seth bring in big, long pieces of wood, which will eventually become part of our new kitchen structure. They tore off the old countertop and removed the cabinets, which was quite a sight. The terrible island that used to dominate the kitchen is finally gone, leaving us with a blank canvas to work with.
Loose Wires and Nerves
One of the more nerve-wracking aspects of this project has been dealing with the loose, hot wires left behind after the demolition. It's a bit scary, but we're being careful and taking all necessary precautions. Yesterday, my nerves got the best of me, but I've been taking little breaks to manage the stress.
The Hunt for New Fixtures
Kenzie has been on the lookout for French swing doors and double ovens on the Facebook marketplace. It's exciting to think about the new elements we'll be adding to our home. The idea of having beautiful French doors and a sleek double oven is keeping us motivated through the chaos.
What's Next?
Who knows what today will bring? Each day is a new adventure in this remodeling journey. We're making progress, and despite the mess and the stress, it's all going to be worth it in the end.
- Open Concept Living: We're aiming for an open-concept kitchen and living area to create a more spacious and inviting environment.
- Modern Fixtures: With Kenzie's help, we're planning to install modern fixtures, including the French swing doors and double ovens, to give our home a contemporary feel.
- Energy Efficiency: We're also focusing on making our home more energy-efficient by upgrading insulation, installing energy-efficient appliances, and possibly adding solar panels.
- Outdoor Space: Once the interior is done, we plan to revamp our outdoor space with a new deck and garden area, perfect for relaxing and entertaining.
- Personal Touches: Finally, we'll add personal touches throughout the house to make it truly feel like home, from unique decor pieces to family photos.
